With Master Chief on ice until the new Xbox console, we had to look at other Xbox titles and settled on PUBG as the title was a console exclusive and the excuse to do a drink with a frying pan! (Iconic in the game due to a bug that made it bulletproof which developers left in) I didn’t realise how many would mysteriously vanish.

Method

Start by running a lime wedge around the rim of a half-pint glass then dip in chicken salt to garnish then set aside for the Bloody Mary.
Like a standard Bloody Mary with a few house tweaks, combine all the remaining ingredients and stir continuously in a tall glass with ice until chilled.

Serve with a frying pan full of chicken crisps.

The Game

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole. The game is based on previous mods that were created by Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene for other games, inspired by the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale, and expanded into a standalone game under Greene’s creative direction. In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. The available safe area of the game’s map decreases in size over time, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters. The last player or team standing wins the round.

Flaming dragon punches have been a staple of series icon Ken since Street Fighter 2, this is another re-release improving on our original Sweet Fighter 5 cocktail.
Our Sweet Fighter V: Barcade Editon takes its drink inspiration from a classic Pimms but taking things turbo with Red Bull tropical.

Method

Take the Tanqueray Sevilla, Pimms and add to a highball filled with ice and fill with fruit.
Open the Tropical Red Bull and pour the overproof rum into the rim of the can, light and serve by pouring into the Pimms mix and the sweets on the side.

The Game

Street Fighter V is a fighting game developed and published by Capcom for the PlayStation 4 and PC in 2016. 

Street Fighter V carries on the 2D fighting gameplay of its predecessors, in which two fighters use a variety of attacks and special abilities to knock out their opponent. The game features the EX gauge introduced in Street Fighter III, which builds as the player lands attacks and can be used to either power up special moves or perform super combos known as Critical Arts, although the Focus Attacks from the previous game have been removed. New to this game is the “V-Gauge”, which builds as the player receives attacks and adds three new techniques: V-Skills, V-Reversals, and V-Triggers. V-Skills are special attacks unique to each fighter; for example, Ryu can parry an attack while M. Bison can reflect projectiles, some of which build V-Gauge when successfully performed. V-Reversals allow players to use a section of the V-Gauge to perform a counter move whilst being attacked. 

In 2014 we were asked by BAFTA to create drinks that could be served up at the Game Awards after-party taking inspiration from the nominees in the best game category. This tribute to the creator of Mario and if not the father of modern gaming, at least a founding father, Shigeru Miyamoto. Our Miyamojito gives the Mojito a Japanese twist and includes a boozy nod to Mario’s favourite powerup.

Method

Start by creating your rum-soaked Mushrooms, add some oil and butter to a frying pan, sweat off the mushrooms then add your rum, flambee, drain and leave to chill.
Muddle the mint in a glass and top up with ice, pour in the sake, sugar syrup and lime juice, stir until chilled, top up with lime and more fresh mint. Finish by placing the mushrooms on top of the glass.

The Game

Super Mario 3D Land^[a] is a platform video game in the Super Mario series developed and published by Nintendo for their 3DS handheld game console. It was released worldwide in November 2011 and was the first Mario game to be released for the 3DS. A sequel, titled Super Mario 3D World, was released for the Wii U (Rest in peace) in 2013.

Super Mario 3D Land and its sequel are unique from other games in the Mario series, as they combine elements from both traditional 2D Mario side-scrolling games and modern free-roaming 3D Mario games. It also introduces elements into the series, including power-ups and gameplay mechanics. The main story is similar to previous Super Mario titles, following Mario’s efforts to rescue Princess Peach, who has been kidnapped by Bowser.

The Afterlife Bar in Nightcity names cocktails after famous regulars thought to have died in a spectacular fashion, thought to have been vaporized in a nuclear blast this drink is a tribute to his supposed demise. With Keanu Reeves playing the character in-game trailers it seems Afterlife may have been too hasty on the tribute, enjoy getting Cyberdrunk with the Johnny Silverhand while it’s still on the menu.

Method

Prepare your tumbler/rocks glass by rubbing an orange wedge & chilli around the lip of the glass and dip into the edible silver, tap the base of the glass to remove the excess.
Mix your agave, bitters and tequila over ice and slowly stir, pour into your silver glass and finish with beer, roll for constitution and enjoy.

The Game

Cyberpunk 2077 is an upcoming role-playing video game developed and published by CD Projekt Red. It is scheduled to be released in November 2020. Adapted from the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG franchise, the story takes place in dystopian Night City, an open world with six distinct regions. Players assume the first-person perspective of a customisable mercenary called V, who can acquire skills in hacking and machinery, an arsenal of ranged weapons, and options for melee combat.

With a franchise as iconic as Hitman, we had plenty to work with and decided we wanted to capture the variety of kill styles and create a set of drinks that took on both the visual style and classic themes of the Hitman series… but first, we needed a ‘victim’

The studio was an interesting place to be that day, with glasses of booze meeting air rifles and samurai swords… it was messy – but an awful lot of fun. Seven glasses lost their lives that day for a total of four final images, which although a fairly good ratio, clearly any slip ups wouldn’t be seen as acceptable by a certain barcoded agent…

To draw attention to the (borderline offensively) bad ‘Absolut’ semi-pun, we used different flavours of the Swedish spirit for each image.

Method

Choose your “death” ingredient. Pour all the long island alcoholic ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake. Strain the mixture into a highball glass over ice. Top with the lemon-lime soda and fresh lime juice. Drink up and watch your back agent.

The Game

Hitman: Absolution is a stealth video game developed by IO Interactive and published by Square Enix. It is the fifth instalment in the Hitman series. Before release, the developers stated that Absolution would be easier to play and more accessible, while still retaining hardcore aspects of the franchise. The game was released on 20 November 2012.
